Accessing My AMS with a Telnet Session

Gaining access to the AMS Patient Database
You will need Internet Access. If you do not have internet Access, please call us at 713-772-6690 to set up Internet Access. If you already have Internet access through any other service provider, you can access the data from your PC using NetTerm. First, you will need to call us and tell us who your provider is and from where you will be accessing your Patient Database so we can add your locations to our authorization files.
Accessing your Patient Database
You need NetTerm © to access AMS with full functionality. If you do not have it installed on your computer and an AMS login doesn't appear when you click Patient Database, you need to download and install it.
  • Download nt3242ei.exe - Windows 95/98/NT/W2K/ME version 4.2d (1356K)
  • Optionally you can download the newer SecureNetTerm.exe
  • Open it from its current location
  • Choose all the defaults to run it, but make sure to CHECK the box asking to Overlay the netterm.ini file in the Windows Directory.
  • Close any windows that the Install program created and continue with the instructions by clocking on the Patient Database link.
Using NetTerm the first time to access your Patient Database
The first time you try to access your Patient Database with NetTerm, you need to associate it with NetTerm. To do this:
  • Click on the Patient Database link found on this screen or the previous screen.
  • If Windows complains that an association must be added first, you will need to manually add the "sh" extension to the list of file associations under Tools/Folder Options/File Types.
  • Tell Windows to Open this file from the current location.
  • Click on the "Other..." button at the bottom of the "Open With" box
  • Find "netterm.exe" under "C:\Program Files\NetTerm OR if using SecureNetTerm, under
    C:\Program Files\InterSoft International, Inc\SecureNetTerm
  • Choose the "netterm.exe" program.
  • Make sure the "Always use this program to open this file" option is checked.
  • Click OK to run the program.
  • Log in with the login user id and password assigned to you by AMS.
  • You may change the screen size by clicking the "ABC" icon after the program starts.
The next time you click on the Patient Database link, Windows will again ask you to Open or Save the file. You will choose to open it, and be sure to REMOVE the check next to "Always ask before opening this type of file" option on that window. From this point forward, whenever you click on the Patient Database link, Windows should start NetTerm for you and take you to a login screen.

Printing to your local printer with NetTerm
The first time you try to print with NetTerm, you need to choose a local printer and a specific font. To do this:

  • Click on the Patient Database link found on this screen or the previous screen.
  • Log in with your assigned user name and password.
  • At the top of the NetTerm window, click on File, then Setup Printer.
  • Click the down arrow to the right of the name box, and choose the printer you want to use from your list of available printers.
  • After you have chosen a printer, click the Select Font button . In order for the columns to line up correctly, you MUST choose a Courrier font such as Courrier New. Also choose 11 point font size. This fits well on most 8 1/2 by 11 pages.
  • Click OK to accept the Font and OK to accept the printer you have chosen.
  • Now when you choose to print something, always specify to print to the <LOCAL> printer and it will print to the printer you chose.
